References to religious, philosophical and spiritual subjects
In the homeschooling movement there are a lot of religiously motivated parents who in this connection want to protect their children from the corrosive influences of school which endanger the salvation of the soul and wish to teach their children at home. Therefore, we give some remarks and links to religious content here.
It is the task of religion to orient people towards what is good and true, refine them, edify and strengthen them spiritually and make them increasingly also able to do what they have recognized to be right. Besides this, it aims to counteract a one-sided fixation on earthly things, to awaken a desire for salvation in the soul and prepare it for the life beyond. Daily prayer is fundamental in this. Below are some website to be recommended in our current view:
www.unityonline.org [English]
Silent Unity is a supra-denominational worldwide prayer service. You can call or email your prayer wish and they will then pray 30 days for you.
www.dailyword.com [English]
Edifying religious texts are sent to you by email every day or also sent to you in a printed version.
www.verlag-anton-schmid.de [German]
This Catholic-oriented publishing house publishes both religious and also very explosive political books with founded knowledge about the background of the current power politics and its manipulators.
This is highly explosive literature! But it is only available in German. The publishing house director, Anton Schmid, has also been subject to massive political or state persecution, which speaks for the quality and seriousness of his publications and is the reason for our recommendation.
At iTunes you can find internet radio channels with religious music. Click on “Radio“ and then on “Religious“. There you will find both various channels with religious music and also spoken contributions and sermons. The talks or sermons are unfortunately sometimes mingled with very dubious ideologies and blatant political propaganda.
The world famous German and self-taught composer Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) created outstanding religious music. The modern American-influenced Christian music such as is broadcast on the iTunes radio stations can for the most part by no means match the level and depth of Bach’s music.
If you would like to get to know religiosity on a high level you cannot ignore the mystics. Here we must especially mention the outstanding German Christian mystic, theologian and philosopher Master Eckhart (1260-1328), likewise the natural philosopher Jakob Böhme (1575-1624) and the Italian Francis of Assisi (1181-1226). Noteworthy are also the talks or sermons of the Danish philosopher and theologian Søren Kierkegaard (1813-1855). We should not forget the Swedish scientist, mystic and theologian Emanuel von Swedenborg (1688-1772) and the Austrian musician, mystic and visionary Jakob Lorber (1800-1864).
The following names from Indian high culture are worth mentioning: the freedom fighter (for liberation from the English occupying power), philosopher, Hindu mystic and founder of integral yoga Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950) and the great sage Sri Ramana Maharshi (1879-1950).
From ancient China Confucius (551-479 BC) und Laotius (between the 6th and 3rd centuries BC) are especially well known.
